I have been a media geek ever since I was four or five years old when my Dad put me in the announce booth behind the glass at WJMC Radio in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and recorded me. I couldn't believe it when I heard my voice coming back at me from those big speakers. When I was at home listening to the radio I could actually hear my Dad talking and that did it. I used to hang around radio stations and pull records from the library or do anything for anybody who would let me in the door. (Remember KRSI?) I got involved with WMMR Radio at the U of M (now known as Radio K) back in the days when Garrison Keillor was there. I dropped out of the U and went to Brown Institute (with Dave McKay). That was a L - O - N - G time ago.
My first five or six years at KFAI consisted of subbing for various programmers and trying to get my own show. I was tremendously excited when Luke Andrews broke both his arms so he couldn't push any buttons so I offered to step right in do "The Temposphere" and BINGO! I was hooked. Live From Studio 5! was my idea but I couldn't do it alone. It is a group effort and we can always use more help so come on down any Wednesday night and check us out and see where you might fit in to our Cast of Characters.
TOP PICTURE: Jodi Cox's version of me. (Is she hinting that I have an ANGER problem?)
Here I am in an earlier incarnation.
This is me in my glory at WMMR now known as Radio K.
