Jacquie Lady J Maddix has been broadcasting the blues for more than 30 years. She blends Blues, Soul, R&B, Funk and Jazz  into a music alchemy that holds the listener spellbound.  The roots of American blues music runs deeper than the slave trade of the 1600’s in America. The blues comes from the African spiritual tradition of ancestor worship, animism and magic. The driving beat heard in blues music is the same rhythm produced by healers, witch-doctors and shaman of the African tribe to access magic consciousness. That’s what happens when the blues “sends” its listeners to places found deep in the soul. That’s also what happens when Lady J takes to the live music stage as:  “Lady J Griot & Her Root Doctors.” In 2015, Ms. Maddix and her band were inducted into the Minnesota Blues Society’s Hall of Fame for blending blues history, live music and root wisdom into one expression. Her radio show: Songs of the Soul”, is a reflection of her deep belief in blues music and in her belief that music is the bridge that will connect us all as the Collective Community we once were.  Look for her book: “Root Wisdom From The Elders’ Circle” coming out in Spring of 2021.
