July 2013 Poquito y Bueno: A Short and Sweet Flamenco Show Archives

Kristina plays some real oldies but not her own goldies this week. These oldies are as old or older than Kristina! The point, aside from enjoying the music of course, is to note how much more floral and lyrical the vocal stylings were in the 30s and 40s.

Kristina stays with her oldies theme, featuring the history and cante of Manolo Caracol, a much-loved singer whose career took him through the 30s, 40s and beyond.

Kristina features the inimitable cantaor, El Chocolate, whose unique style of cante was influenced at an early age by Manolo Caracol and others in Sevilla.

Kristina reaches into the archives for a show of cantaores from decades past singing fandangos, malagueñas, and granainas.
