January 2015 Sound Affects: A Radio Playground Archives

Comedy in Music – We celebrate those times when the arts of comedy and music are brought together.  Sometimes they mesh gently in ways that enhance both crafts. And sometimes they just crash head-on.  These aren't just novelty songs, but comedy bits and sketches in music form and about the music and musicians who practice.

Beginning twelve weeks of Radio Detectives… Hammett and Chandler laid the broad foundation of the modern day detective back in the pulp magazine days.  Even today there are certain rules and style that nearly everyone follows in order to help listeners instantly understand that they are listening to a detective story.  Even parodies of Private Eye tales must follow along to be believed.

Tonight –

This quarter it's all Radio Detectives on Sound Affects.

Tonight we have Act 2 of Saratoga Noir, from ZBS.  Danny Boyee, the P.I., has been hired to find a lost kitty, with a diamond collar.  He's the one who is supposed to deliver the ransom for the purloined pussy.  Recorded in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Original music by Tim Clark. Written by Meatball Fulton.  The conclusion is next week.
