Thanks to Ellen Stanley of Womenfolk:http://www.kfai.org/womenfolk for coming in this second pledge drive edition of PWB. Martin, Pat, Janis and Adam were on phones. Punch Bros., David Lowery, Golden Dogs, and Anna Calvi were some of the sounds on your speakers.
Still loving the b-sides/outtakes record from Los Amigos Invisibles, Not So Commercial. This morning we heard the short fun number You Like Dat (yes, I do) moving into the next track Corduroy. I advised a gal to buy this record as a gift for an adventurous music lover in her life, and I was totally right. Also heard new Federico Aubele, The Sunny Era, and that sexy song about sinning from Mother Banjo on her forthcoming ep, Stray Songs.
Thanks to Kevin Steinman:http://www.kevinsteinman.com for sharing his new CD this morning, a week before it’s available. We gave away a few copies, too. Those people are the first on their blocks to have the lovely pop melodies and terrific instrumentation in Kevin’s music. As we truly get into spring, open your windows and blast this great local music! We also heard new music from Eliza Gilkyson, out on May 3rd, and Make We Remember from Femi Kuti’s brand new Africa for Africa.
DJ Musically Rich filled in this morning while Pam is on maternity leave. We heard Kraftwerk, Ceu, Beth Orton and more from his eclectic collection, and the Roe Family Radio Round-Up sent us time traveling.
