Quinn Villagomez a.k.a. SHIMMER – is a true Minnesotan, born and raised right here in the Twin Cities area.
Having lived in the Twin Cities all of her life Quinn (Shimmer) has definitely been making her mark on the Twin Cities; in so many ways!!! “Radio Broadcasting has always been a lifelong dream”. “I owe it to my Supporters”. My biggest influences & motivations are my best friend Jonathan Badboy Gibson whom I love dearly with all my heart and who believes in me more than anyone I know; he is truly “One in A Million” .He keeps me “focused and positive & is the brightest light in my life”. Also my Mentor – Roxanne Anderson. “Rox believed in me when others in this industry didn’t; and they have been there for me through the beginning of this journey”; without them I don’t think I would be living in my passion of Radio.” I am forever grateful for them”. MY family/friends and the many that continue to give me support. Thank You.
Quinn identifies as a Hispanic Woman of Color and a Transgender Woman.
Quinn has definitely seen the struggles of being a Minority and faces the criticisms the LGBT Community & Transgender Women face in today’s Society; this has not stopped Quinn from following her dreams and straying her from succeeding in her passions.
Most recently Quinn joined KFAI Radio as a Co-Host for FRESH FRUIT with RARE Productions: FRESH FRUIT Celebrates 36 years on KFAI. IWD focuses on 24 hours of special programming for Women’s/Girl’s voices and issues to be heard on the airwaves. All of the Shows are produced and hosted by Women/girls right here in the Twin Cities. KFAI has been celebrating IWD since 1989. IWD hosted a Benefit Concert this past March for KFAI Radio which included local top Twin Cities Female Artists of which Quinn was host (and graciously shared the stage with Rox)
Quinn hosted her special one hour show for IWD entitled the THE SHIMMER SHOW; which focused on Pop Culture & mainstream interests. She had the honor of interviewing CEO & Founder/Accessories Designer ZONG Xiong of Pretty Rock Girl Collection and Int’l Pop Recording Artist SHEON. Quinn also hosted her very own WAVE Project Show “The SHIMMER SPOTLIGHT” which was a Pop Culture themed program; guests included – Corrie Dubay – CEO/Founder and Owner of Midwest Makeup Supply Co. which is located in South Minneapolis and also Twin Cities Recording Artist/Aerialist – Elena.
Quinn was featured in an article for City Pages International Women’s Day Continues with KFAI Host Quinn Villagomez featuring her hard work, dedication, and representation for being a voice for the LGBT Community, a Queer Artist of Color & the Transgender Community. She also walked alongside Andrea Jenkins – a Transgender Woman of Color, Community/Twin Cities Activist/Artist; who was also this years Twin Cities Gay Pride 2015 Grand Marshall.
Quinn was chosen as one of 5 Influential Women in the Twin Cities and walked on the Catwalk for Breast Cancer Awareness in the PRETTY IN PINK Benefit which took place this past May & was brought to you by LPF Projects.
