KFAI is seeking two interns to work and learn in our News Department. The internships run 12 weeks, from September 22nd through December 12th, 2014.
The KFAI News Department airs the Morning Blend locally every weekday from 6 am-8am and produces 3 minute news updates at the top of each hour from 9 am to 5 pm. We also post news stories and interviews to our website, www.kfai.org, and communicate with our listeners and members through Facebook and Twitter.
News interns will assist with the production and support of all these elements.
We will ask interns to research topics, re-write news stories, tweet about programming, update Facebook, archive audio, update news department records, cover press conferences, attend public events and conduct and record interviews with decision makers, opinion leaders and people in the community.
Experience with digital recording equipment and sound editing software are useful skills to bring to this internship. Comfort with computer technology and/or a desire to learn are required.
Curiosity about people and events and an interest in public affairs are essential.
Successful interns will be able to write fluently about complicated topics and must be at ease with meeting people, asking questions and speaking into a microphone.
Commitment and Expectations:
The KFAI News internship requires a minimum commitment of 6 hours per week, with the bulk of these hours to be scheduled between the hours of 9am and 1 pm. Some special projects may require late night or early morning events and/or studio production.
The internship is unpaid.
