Amy Goodman to Speak 7pm -9pm Saturday, September 22nd
Democracy Now! is on the road holding public events to help raise critical funds for the public broadcasters that carry the daily "exception to the rulers." The tour route covers many of the electoral swing states, going beyond the mainstream media's obsessive focus on the latest poll numbers and candidate gaffes, to see on the ground how people are organizing, the impacts of restrictive voter ID laws that are making it harder to vote, and how the massive influx of campaign cash following the Citizens United decision is changing how our democracy works.
Amy Goodman, host of "Democracy Now!," will speak this Saturday, September 22nd, 2012, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 101 East Grant Street, Minneapolis, MN, 55403, 7pm - 9pm.
Several years ago Ms. Goodman spoke to a standing room only crowd at St. Joan of Arc Church about her then best seller "The Exception to the Rulers." This year she returns to the Twin Cities, a scant six weeks before the national election of the President of the United States. Birchbark Books will be on hand offering copies of her new book, "The Silenced Majority: Stories of Uprisings, Occupations, Resistance and Hope." Purchase the book that night and have it signed by Amy Goodman! The book will not be available in stores until October 9th.
All proceeds from this event will benefit KFAI, Fresh Air Radio. Tickets are $15.00 and can be purchased at on-line here
or by calling 612-341-3144 ext. 23. Advanced tickets are recommended. A limited number of tickets will be available at the event starting at 5:30pm.
