  • KFAI welcomes Lonnie Knight to Roots Night at the Acadia Saturday, September 27th. Lonnie Knight is a Twin Cities songwriter and musician who has been active in the scene for 30 years. Knight is a performer fans of acoustic guitar work must see. He closes Saturday’s showcase, which begins at 9pm with Ben Tucker.

  • Ed Felien talks about his revolutionary book Take the Streets! this Friday at 11 am on Catalyst:node/57. He can also be heard Sunday, September 28th at 3 pm at May Day Books, 301 Cedar Ave., Minneapolis.

  • The 10th Annual Nordic Roots Festival begins Friday, September 26th, and runs through Sunday, September 28th, at the Cedar Cultural Center: Eight different groups are scheduled to perform in evening and daytime concerts, but this festival brings musicians together in such a way that audiences might see surprise guests on stage from different bands.

  • This Wednesday Andy Driscoll and Lynell Mickelsen talk with practitioners of the time-honored art of community organizing on Truth to Tell:node/682. They’ll discuss its true nature and importance as a tool of civic and political engagement in these times when so many of us rely on mass media for our news and make decisions about who is responsible for change and public policy.

  • KFAI mourns the loss of Georgette Pfannkuch, programmer and founder of Bonjour Minnesota: since 1984. Georgette passed away on Saturday, September 13th, 2008 at her home, surrounded by her family. She leaves behind her husband, Olaf, sons Georges and Johannes, daughters Karin and Barbara, and grandaughters Josephine and Isabelle.
