WCAL, 89.3FM, was the first listener-supported radio station in the United Sates, and a founding member of National Public Radio. The station broadcast for 80 years from St. Olaf's campus in Northfield, MN before its controversial sale in August 2004. Today 89.3 operates as The Current, part of Minnesota Public Radio. KFAI's Nancy Sartor interviewed Ruth Sylte, president of Save WCAL, an organization that represents to donors to WCAL.
