Twin Cities youth groups participated in a 30-hour famine recently to raise money and awareness to fight world hunger. KFAI’s Connor Molloy reports.


Once again this summer, KFAI will host eight teenage girls for our fifth Youth News Initiative. The program is held June 22nd through August 13th, three days per week from 10am-1pm. The girls learn radio producing skills, job and economic readiness skills and have the opportunity to visit other broadcast organizations around the Twin Cities.

KFAI’s Youth News Initiative, an eight-week intensive journalism training session for girls-of-color, 13-18 years of age, had the participants learn the process of creating professional-quality radio news reports by providing training in news research, reporting, creative writing, voice training, producing, and digital recording and editing utilizing state-of-the-art technology in radio production

The YWCA sponsored a governor’s forum today in downtown Minneapolis. The forum centered around women and the issues that affect them. KFAI reporter Marty Owings filed this report.
