March 6 marked the 11th Annual Sweet On School Dance in Support of Public Education. This annual event is broadcast live on KFAI’s Sugar Shop, from the Gym at Hiawatha Community School, 4201 42nd Ave. S. Minneapolis. As is tradition, Sugar Shop’s Lolly Obeda served as on-air host and full-time kid-wrangler.

Said Lolly prior to the broadcast: “Sweet On School is a celebration of all of the good things about school, and is free and open to the public. Sweet On School provides an opportunity for kids from across the metropolitan area to have their voices heard through the mighty megaphone of community radio. As usual, I plan to get as many kids as possible on the air. You can’t believe how empowering this is for kids and the wonderful things they say.”
