The first hour of this program presents music from Argentina, Cuba and Haiti, as well as a critical/musical approximation to María Magdalena. The music and literature segments of the second hour are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of José María Arguedas, the Peruvian writer and anthropologist (1911-1969).
This week we celebrated the anniversary of the birth of the human jukebox, Snooks Eaglin. Also, new music from Kelley Hunt and obscure recordings of Percy Sledge. On ouir countdown of the best soul/rb albums of the seventies, we reviewed the #48 selection, as ranked by Mojo Magazine, Miss Sara Brother Tad: 24-Carat Black, Esther Phillips and Millie Jackson, respectively.
