Park Square inaugurates FACE TO FACE, partnering this season with the internationally renowned Ping Chong + Company, a New York leader in community-specific, interview-based theatre events. Using their own words, our neighbors become the storytellers, creating a theatre piece that reveals the vibrancy and resiliency of Hmong families in Saint Paul. A powerful play exploring British colonialism in southern Africa and the use of Christianity for cultural disruption. Set in 1896 Rhodesia, a young girl whose father has passed away is to be traded, by her uncle, to an older man with ten wives in exchange for a number of goats. She escapes this forced marriage by taking refuge in the home of an African teacher in the Catholic church. The Art Shoppe at Midtown Global Market in South Minneapolis is a collaborative featuring Minnesota Artists. About 70 artists provide an array of work, including jewelry, visual arts, pottery, glass and fabric items. The shop offers items directly from the artist to the customer and artists manage the shop. Featured in February and March 2020 are five artists: Kim Buell (photographer), Gayla Ellis (photographer), Tara Innmon (painter), Pamela Kirton (Mixed Media) and Diane Michele May (painter). Last year the world celebrated the 200th birthday of the virtuosic pianist, accomplished composer, and one of the most revolutionary women in music, Clara Schumann. Jennifer Olson, Soprano, David Kozisek, Tenor, and Benjamin Downs, Piano, shine a light on the tempestuous and tragic love of Clara and Robert Schumann using their words, letters, and incredible music. Featuring Robert's Dichterliebe, several lieder by Clara, and solo piano compositions by both Schumanns, Brahmns, and Liszt.

Carnaval Brasileiro returns to the Fine Line for an authentic Brazilian carnival celebration! This year’s event features performances by several groups, touring Brazilian guests, and real caipirinhas! Beira Mar Brasil, a ten-piece band led by Robert Everest, hosts the event which includes performances by singer and samba dancer extraordinaire, Dandara Odara; the Twin Cities own Brazilian percussion band, Batucada do Norte; and Capoeira Floracao performing traditional Afro-Brazilian martial arts.
