FRI.DEC. 13 on CATALYST: Homeless Youth & Anti-Poverty Activists

Hundreds of youth under 21 are on the streets on any given night. While politicans keep giving themselves pay raises, they have not raised the welfare grant for poor families in 27 YEARS (it remains $420 for a family of three). Now, Congress looks like it will refuse to extend longterm unemployment safety net. IS THIS THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT? Hear from AVENUES FOR HOMELESS YOUTH/GLBT Host Home and members of WELFARE RIGHTS COMMITTEE.

As mothers, we believe that there has been too much silence in this country about gun violence. On December 14, we will honor the 26 lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary, as well as the thousands of Americans lost to gun violence, with a moment of No More Silence. We will gather for a short program culminating in a bell-ringing, both to remember the victims and show our resolve to continue speaking out until meaningful action is taken to make our country safer.

TIME:  9:30 AM Central Time

DATE:  Saturday, December 14, 2013

LOCATION:  Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave Minneapolis MN 55403

We encourage you to bring a bell from home so that you can participate in the bell-ringing.
