He had a solo career on both sides of the Atlantic ( Philip is from Canada ) before becoming part of the music industry as an A&R guy – and as he continued his songwriting, he was the co-writer of the Kirsty MacColl smash hit “There’s A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He’s Elvis”.
