Radio Rumpus Room is a garage-sale high-speed mixmaster missing its top, slinging a messy slop of surf, hot rod, '60s garage, primal pop, primitive rock 'n' roll, rockabilly, psych and traditional twang since May 1994.

Getting out in the community: In addition to our weekly radio show we hosted the monthly First Saturday Surf Stomp at the Hexagon Bar in Minneapolis for nearly four years. Featured at this continuing event (now known as Surf Night and which we unfailingly attend and occasionally announce) is a revolving cast of surf and instrumental rock bands, with twang and vocal groups frequently included as well. We also hosted the Radio Rumpus Room Hootenanny! series at Lee's Liquor Lounge, featuring a mix of bands from the RRR musical melting pot of surf, twang and rock'n'roll. We have been the primary media sponsor of the Minneapolis Messaround traditional hot rod and custom car show for the past three years, and the Twin Cities Riot multi-day garage blowout too. We hosted a sold-out Trashmen/Neanderthals/Davie Allan & The Arrows surf'n'garage spectacular at the Turf Club in late 2008, and one-off shows at bars like Stasiu's and the Acadia Cafe as well.

Submissions for airplay: We welcome your CDs and vinyl for spinning on Radio Rumpus Room. Take a look at our playlists, and if you think your sound fits in with the stuff we play, please mail what you have to:

Jean did the show solo and couldn't think of anything semi-clever to put here.

Tonight's show acknowledged the passing of Richard Delvy, a founding member of the groundbreaking surf/instro bands the Belairs and the Challengers. We also noted the most-watched pothole-filling in history, with our Daytona "Pothole" 500 Heavy Metal set.

Tonight's show is dedicated to the plucky Martian rover Spirit, and it's cohort Opportunity. Spirit is mired in deep sand and will live out its life as a stationary reporting station. Both were parachuted to the Martian surface with an expected operational lifespan of three months. They have been rolling across the Martian surface and sending back scientific information to NASA for nearly six years. Here's to these stupendous overachievers!
