Modern Kicks on KFAI, garage rock, power pop, new music, KFAI

Tired of hearing the same old junk?  Too impatient to scroll through the dozen RSS feeds of the mp3 blogs you follow to find one song you might enjoy?  Wish there was a place that would point out some of the best new music for you?

Well... put down that magic lamp, kiddo -- because your wish has already been granted!  Listen to Modern Kicks on KFAI!

Our Show Of Shows aspires to bring our listeners the best in live recordings of jamband and jamband related concerts, with a focus on shows recorded in the Twin Cities, bands coming to the Cities in the near future, and bands from here. Look for frequent Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers Band and Gov't Mule offerings.

_Pam Without Boundaries_, hosted by Pam, features an eclectic blend of singer-songwriters, rock bands, world music, and electronic beats alongside exclusive features such as:

* 10:15am highlights of this week's new releases: you'll go to the record store in-the-know for what's coming out Tuesday!
* 10:30am we're often joined by local, national or international musicians for music and some chat.
* 11am weekday concert calendar, because, face it, some weeks, you need live music to get you through it. You will also find a concert calendar at this time on Tuesdays and Thursdays on KFAI!
* Just before noon it's the Featured Festival: a couple of songs from an upcoming festival or benefit I want to be sure you know about.

We look forward to getting your music week started right on KFAI, Radio Without Boundaries.

We want this show to be a place for us to showcase our many musical influences (Bachata, Cumbia, Funk, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Merengue, Reggae, Rock, Salsa, Samba, Soul, Chicano/Tejano).

Radio Rumpus Room? Well, it was kinda like a garage-sale high-speed mixmaster missing its top, slinging a messy slop of surf, hot rod, '60s garage, primal pop, primitive rock 'n' roll, rockabilly, psych and traditional twang since April 1991. Shortly after reaching tbe show's 19th anniversary we decided to retire it. Radio Rumpus Room's final show was 'round Memorial Day, 2010.

A weekly trip through the history of recorded music.
