Today's program explores some new territories, in general.  Opening with a 3 song set from Greek artist Kristi Stassinopoulou – then going to Istanbul, Turkey, for a Rom group – followed by a 3 song flashback set of the wild 'n crazy group "3 Mustaphas 3".  From there we hear some Ladino tracks of Yasmin Levy and two flamenco jazz pieces from Paco de Lucia.  Then a preview of the group "Terakaft", from the Sahara playing The Cedar this coming week.  Related to that style, a three song tribute to the late Mariem Hassan from Western Sahara.  A taste of "Paradise" from Lagbaja & two song p

Classic Chanson sounds from Paris !  Josephine Baker to 'Les Primitifs du Futur'… leads directly into the Sahara Tamasheq band "Terakaft" playing The Cedar this week !

After three songs from them we hear from the recently passed Western Sahara singer Mariem Hassan — and then onto an Algerian expat out of France now; Souad Massi.

In a duet with Souad is Daby Toure' from Mauritania & Senegal, they both sing a song entitled "I Won't Forget My Roots" !

Opening today's program with music from Asia Minor (Turkey) and the Caucasus Mountains region (Republic of Georgia).  Then whorling back to a taste of Tango by Panamanian salsero – Ruben Blades.  Also a tribute to the work and upcoming visit from Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, coming to the Pantages Theater on Hennepin Avenue on Sept. 24

Pledge week episode #1 – revisits some recent live performances at the Cedar, including 'last night's' show with La Chiva Gantiva.  The majority of this program focusses on sounds well within the Latin vein as well.
