Today's program opens with new releases from Novalima & Tierra Libre (from Peru & Cuba respectively), and a track from the Spanish Harlem Orquesta.  Then a couple creole jewels from Cedric Watson of Louisiana. Also time for the Italian crooner, Paolo Conte — and a set from Kobo Town, Toronto-based Trinidadian Kaiso wordsmith's band, recorded live at The Cedar.  Winding down the program with Peter Tosh, Charles Mingus & Hugh Masekela.

A wide ranging program today, loosely based on languages.  Opening with Latin sounds from Argentina, Peru, & Cuba — other cultural representatives pass through.  Female representation from Buffy Sainte-Marie, Angelique Kidjo, Stella Chiweshe, and Kine Lam round it out.  African countries featured in the second hour include Zimbabwe, Congo, Cote D'Ivoire, Mali, & Senegal — winding in up with Italian star, Paolo Conte.

Guest host – Alex Pederson – takes the helm on today's episode of "Global Beat".  Alex has been co-hosting with Tony Paul on Monday's at the same time, check out "Shake & Bake" as well !

Virtually the whole show, today is focussed on Africa, as Doug returns to the dj chair to highlight great sounds and themes.  Countries featured include Cameroun, Egypt-Nubia, Nigeria, Angola, Zimbabwe, Benin, Cote-d'Ivoire, and South Africa. 

Cuba has been reawakened on the horizon in the upper midwestern US… and a new release of sounds from the BuenaVista Social Club opens this program… from there DC goes to Brasil for an extended set. Front and center are 3 songs from Flavia Coelho from her new release, Mundo Meu. Later in the show, music from Columbia and Peru graces our collective ear.  Ending the program today with music from Pernambuco state in N.E. Brasil.
