December 2015 Echo Chamber Archives

Another one of those weeks where there’s too much new stuff to get to all of it. Got the dub party started with the excellent new “Fried Rize Dubz – Vol 2” by HabooDubee (on Dan Dada), and followed it right up with the beautiful Anuhea with “Big Deal”. The new music continued with selections from Stick Figure (from the new “Set In Stone” album); Tribal Realities (with the exclusive debut of “Tribal Realities Dub”); Trevor the Technician (with “Amigo – Echo Chamber Special Dub 2015”); Sagitarr; Teflon; Astrosuka & Ornamenti D’oro; Alpha Steppa; Talawa Reggae Army; Baaba Maal; Bio Dread; Reggie Codrington; Natalie Rize & Notis; and some freshly unearthed Black Uhuru! Swiss kept things dubwise with tracks from Dub Syndicate, Senior All Stars, Bunny Lee & the Aggrovators, Derrick Morgan, Perfume, Alien Soap Opera, 9Miles, and more…

Oooh, what a little research can yield! More on that later…
New (or at least quite recent) stuff this week included Gold-e-Locks, Ancient Astronauts, Haji Mike & the Breadwinners, Black Roots (Mad Professor mix from the archive), Trinkie Starr, Anuhea, HabooDuBee, Tribal Realities, Warrior King, Gospel Machine, Junior Thomas & the Volcanoes, Talawa Reggae Army, Med Dred & Shaky Norman, and Caravan Palace.

Whatever you're celebrating this year, celebrate here in the Echo Chamber with us! We've got not one, but TWO Dubsteps-of-the-Bells! Plus Big Red and the Cool Yule, being Jimmy Bowman's hipster retelling of The Night Before Christmas… plus Spike Jones, City Slickers and all, taking the original poem and making a proper song out of it, four songs after Adam and Eve crawl up Sir Lord Comic's sleeve and never come down until Christmas Eve.

What fun winding up 2015 and getting ready for a new year in the Echo Chamber! Tons of great dub & reggae as usual, and some holiday tunes for the year-end party — including 3 versions of “Auld Lang Syne”. As has been our custom over the last few years, we kicked off the program with Ghetto Priest’s excellent “Auld Lang Syne/Slave’s Lament” version of the classic song. Other fine holiday material from the likes of Redtenbacher’s Funkestra, J Boogie’s Dubtronic Science, Colossus, Jacob Miller & Ray I, Yellowman, and Tsuyoshi Kawakami. But tonight’s show wasn’t all about looking back, as we aired brand new tunes from DJ Vadim & Sena, Misa West, Alpha Steppa, Dos Pesos, HabooDubee (aka Polaak), Chyna Nicole, and Groove Armada. In the second half of the show, DJ Baby Swiss marked the departure of The Specials’ powerhouse drummer John Bradbury for that great “Ghost Town” in the sky, kicking off a wide-ranging set rncompassing the circa-2015 and red-hot Selecter (“Breakdown”), brand-spankin’ new Pannonia Allstars (“Star Wars Imperial Reggae”), classic old Bad Manners (“Echo Gone Wrong”) and of course The Upsetters’ “Na Na Hey Hey” to close things out.
