September 2015 Echo Chamber Archives

This week the Echo Chamber presented our annual end-of-summer “Echo Beach” special! We were back at the Dub Club tiki bar mixing drinks and mixing musical genres — from twangy surf rock, old school R&B, and lounge, to Brazilian beats, Ska, and Jazz… The eclectic list of artists included The Divine Sham, The Ventures, Dick Dale & his DelTones, Booker T & the MGs, Tom Dissevelt, J Boogie’s Dubtronic Science, Orlando Cachaito Lopez, The Propellerheads (ft. Shirley Bassey), Luísa Maita, Freddy Fresh, Sly & Robbie, Neil Sedaka (yup!), The Skatalites, HIRIE (brand new single), Jean-Paul Dub, Buena Vista Social Club, Rafiralfiro, Stereolab, Perfume, Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited, Tipsy, Billie Holiday, and more…

This week's Chamber started of on a bit of a "dubbles" kick, with back-to-backs ranging from from coming-to-towner Lee Perry (tonight Wed. @ the Cedar!), to Alborosie, Digital Seal and  Captaine Cookie. The "dubbles" thing morphed into an "Echo Beach Pt. II" continuation of our annual summer's end special involvingthe sounds of surf, funk, electro-swing, with plenty of dub along the way.

Big night in the Echo Chamber, with some great new music and Dr. StrangeDub back in the house this week. First up was the excelent new track “Protection” from Tribal Realities, followed by Sahra Indio & Digikal Roots with the new “Come With the Fyah” single. Also in the first set was the very cool new “Dred Scott Fitzgerald” EP from Irie Sol – which takes the “Great Gatsby” as the launching off point in this new Lit-Hop musical excursion. Also new tonight were tunes from Jean-Paul Dub, Delhi 2 Dublin, Mexican Stepper meets Sista Bethsabee, Body Language, Squidly Cole, Dillinger (from the archives), Nativix, Jemere Morgan, and the new “Vintage Latino” collection on Putamayo. Also in the mix were Lee Scratch Perry, Dennis Brown, Gaby Moreno, Juakali, the Magic Carpathians, UB40, Subatomic Sound System, The Drastics, Alton Ellis, Secret Panels vs. The Assessor, and many more.
