May 2015 Echo Chamber Archives

d.j. babyswiss steered the ship for the whole 4-hour tour this week, starting out with the band the good Doctor saw… the English Beat! Dave Wakeling and crew began a 2-night stand at the Dakota on Nicollet Mall, and due to prior obligations (his own gig at the Cedar), Swiss had to miss out this time.

Big week for new music! Plus a very cool mix from Don Mescal called “Reggae Got Swing Vol. 2”. On the new music front we had the very cool “Heat Haze” album from Indou (on Boom One); the excellent “The French Sessions” from Dubmatix (on SoulBeats); DownBeat Dub’s choice new “Electrorgánico” EP and The Dubbstyle’s dubsteppin’ “Simona” EP (both on Dubophonic); the sweet new Retrospect EP” (on Class One Music) from the beautiful Toian; and the excellent dubwise collection “Paproota Dub Compilation Vol. 4” (on Paproota). More new and fantastic sounds from Sterio, I&I Livity, Fortunate Youth, Zion Train, E.R.S., Chronixx, Little Dragon, Natural Dub Cluster, Miles Davis, Nutty Boys, Prince Far I, and many more.

Echo Chamber took a week's well-earned vacation as Charlie Thayer and Roy Taylor kicked off the third annual "Turtle Island Voices Rising" 24-hour special day of Native American programming. Please join us again next week for your weekly dose of dub, reggae and chill mixological vibes from around the world. See ya!
