So many new releases tonight…plus a one-hour special mix from our pal Phil Harmony from Dubnight Radio (Radio Blau, Leipzig, Germany). Started things of with the excellent “In the Kingdom of Dub” album – Prince Fatty giving his patented dub treatment to the jazz band Nostalgia 77. This was followed by the great new “A Miracle” album from Groundation. More great new material from Anouk Aiata & MC Taiwan, Blue King Brown (from their “Born Free” album), Jhene Aiko/Illo DJ, Sterio, Roots Queen, Brina (ft. Toots Hibbert & Dub Colossus), Monaci del Surf, and Aldubb meets Big Finga. More great tunes from the likes of Cocoa Tea, Kalya Scintilla, Redstar Martyrs, Etana, Jean-Paul Dub, Marcia Aitken & Trinity, Roots Tonic meets Bill Laswell, Jack Sparrow & Scientist, Channel U, Big Youth, and more…

A very special night in the Echo Chamber as we presented our annual ALL-JAMAICAN special we call “One Fi Robert” dedicated to my late father-in-law. From 1962 and Jamaican independence, right up to the latest reggae hits from 2014, we hit all the bases. The artist list included: Derrick Morgan, Jimmy Cliff, Eric Donaldson, Dave Barker, The Maytones, Cornell Campbell, Bunny Lee & the Aggrovators, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Dubtonic Kru, Marcia Aitken, The Prophets All Stars, Cecile ft. Big night of new releases in the Echo Chamber! Kicked things into gear with the excellent Prince Fatty meets Nostalgia 77 album “In the Kingdom of Dub” (Tru Thoughts). This was followed by fine new releases from Etana (the “I Rise” album on VP), Pale Rider (the new extended version of “Post” labeled “Post +” on PDXINDUB), and The Dubbstyle with the heavy new single “Time”. The other big new release was the fantastic “Bass, Sweat & Tears/Dub, Sweat & Tears” 2CD package from Gaudi (Six Degrees). More new releases ranging from electronica, to R&B, to sultry trip-hop sounds, to roots & dub – by the likes of Do I Do, Serengety, AM444, Jeph1 & I-Mitri, Ce’cile, Groundation, Blue King Brown, Declan Kelly, JahYu, Dub Architect (remixing Bob Marley & Wailers), DJ Vadim, Bigote, and Dubmatix (ft. Anthony B). Added to this we featured the sounds of Milton Blake & Capleton, Jackie Edwards, Yellowman, Junior Brown, Secret Panels vs. The Assessor, Dennis Bovell /Janet Kay, Horace Andy, and more. In the middle of the program we played an excerpot from a recent Live mix fropm our friend Tokyo Tower. Heck, we even had mashup of Elvis Presley and The Wailers done by the great Errol “ET” Thompson. Quite a show!

A very rootical show tonight…packed with great new releases. Got the party started with the fantastic “Life Ain’t Easy” (Dubmatix Breakbeat Mix) from the Hempolics, followed by the sublime “Reincarnation Dub” from JahYu. Continued the string of new releases with Black Roots, Peace Treaty, JStar, Etana, Profit, Pale Rider, I&I Livity, Capital Letters, Second Sky ft. Tina M., and Monaci del Surf. From there we moved into DJ Vadim, Earl 16 meets Manasseh, RafaRasBorie Dub meets Mexican Stepper, Jaqee, Radio Riddler, Banco de Gaia, The Bombay Royale, oots Tonic meets Bill Laswell, Up Bustle & Out!, Citizen Sound, Channel U, Alice Coltrane, Señor Coconut, Walter Wanderley, and still more…
