September 2016 Rhythm and Grooves Archives

Today marked the inaugaral airing of a new segment, The Leigh Kammen 45 of the week, which will usually air at 11:30am. Thanks to the Leigh Kammen Legacy Project, I'll be airing one or two 45s from the collection of Leigh Kammen, who managed to collect quite a few 45s during his 70 years as a jazz broadcaster. I kicked it off the new segment by playing both sides of a 45 recorded December 30, 1952 by the Charlie Parker Quartet: The Song is You and Laird Baird. Other artists I played today included such classic artists as Sonny Stitt, Duke Ellington, Horace Silver, and King Pleasure.
