November 2015 Rhythm and Grooves Archives

Joe Demko, of Radio Joe and the Jazzobs, stopped by to talk about his new release, Live! and his upcoming celebration at Crooners. We also heard tunes from Joey DeFrancesco, Christine Rosholt, Art Blakey, Benny Green, Art Pepper, Rick Wright's Fundamental Forces, Mary Louise Knutson, and Milt Jackson and his big band.

Today I aired an interview with violinist Regina Carter, who is appearing at the Dakota Monday night, November 16. If you want to read the interview, go to my blog; http://rhythmandgrooves.net/2015/11/14/regina-carter-a-life-journey-in-m....  I played a couple of tracks from Carter's latest album, Southern Comfort, as well as opening tracks from Big John Patton and Perez, Patitucci, and Blade.

Today I played mostly music from Louisiana, for my sister Lorraine, listening in North Carolina. I played tunes by Louis Armstrong, Dr John, Fats Domino, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Donald Harrison and the Spirit of Congo Square, Norah Jones, Cab Calloway, and more.
