Pioneering legislator Neva Walker, the first black woman to be elected to the Minnesota House has decided not to run for a fifth term. She submitted a letter to constituents two weeks ago stating that she has decided to shift focus. Two candidates have stepped up to take on South Minneapolis's District 61B. Seeking the Green Party endorsement is Farheen Hakeem, a former candidate for Mayor and Hennepin County Commissioner. And seeking the DFL endorsement is Jeff Hayden who in 2005 lost a bid to serve as City Councilman for Minneapolis's Ward 8. KFAI's Paul Bachleitner interviews both during the KFAI Evening News.
