Feature Presentation - The SoundStories: group made several audio stories back around 1999. Dick Stevens produced and directed this one, called BLood Night. It's a suspense story by Lon Ryden. A young couple goes up to a remote lake cabin to celebrate an anniversary. But she finds out there's really more to it than that.
Second Feature - It's an intense story about a DJ at a radio station who isn't very good at what he does, or so it seems to the manager. He can't fire the DJ because he's related to the owner. Then one night the DJ sounds entirely psychotic, but the calls to the station indicate that everyone heard exactly what they liked. It's called Family Radio, from Imagination X. Written and produced by Jeffrey Adams. Featuring Jeffrey Adams, Gene Gee, and Beth Nelson. Music by Hollis Higgins.
Dick Stevens passed away on April 28. He was on the Board of KFAI, and on the Marketing committee. He had decades of experience in audio production, and he loved audio theater. I thank him for finding old tapes I could play on the air, that hadn't been available since the 1960s. I thank him for being a stellar pledge rap partner who spoke from the heart and really believed in community radio and KFAI. I play his piece, Blood Night, as a fitting opening for a few weeks of suspense and mystery stories here on Sound Affects.
