09/04/2012 Charles reads "A Retrieved Reformation", one of the most recognized short stories of American writer O Henry (1862-1910). The story follows the reformation of a bank robber. An interesting note is that the author himself was jailed for embezzling funds while he was working in a bank and many of his short stories were written while he was incarcerated.
Charles' story was followed by a story read by Beryl in recognition of the new school year. The story was "A Classical Student" by the Russian writer Anton Chekhov (1860-1904). Note that both writers were of exactly the same generation.
