Pat Samples, coordinator for the Minnesota Creative Arts and Aging Network. MN-CANN has launched a statewide campaign called Creative Matters for Older Minnesotans, and has produced a film with Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) entitled, The Creative Power of Aging. MN-CANN offers resources and networking opportunities for older artists.
Reggie Prim, independent curator and arts organizer, whose focus in on civic engagement and the arts. Reggie curated an exhibit called The Vital Age: Arts and Elderhood, at the Center for Changing Lives, a project of Lutheran Social Services, and in conjunction with the Ebenezer Foundation.
Maria Genne is the founder and artistic director of the intergenerational dance company, Kairos. She is on the board of the National Center for Creative Arts and Aging, and is an award-winning pioneer in the field. she has created a national model for offering dance in elder care facilities, called The Dancing Heart: Vital Elders Moving in Community, which incorporates movement, music and storytelling.
Irv Williams, tenor saxophone player and jazz legend who began his musical career in the Navy band. Irv has played at every jazz club in the Twin Cities since World War II, including the Flame Bar, where he split sets with Sarah Vaughn and Dizzy Gillespie. He's also performed at the Apollo Theater, and fronted the likes of Ella Fitzgerald. A few years ago he thought he was recording his last CD, so he called it Finality. Today, Irv is 91 years of age, and continues to gig. He performs at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis every Friday evening.
