Photographer Wing Young Huie spent three years walking into schools, churches, beauty shops, senior centers and markets along a six-mile stretch on University Ave in St. Paul and asked, “Do you mind if I take a picture?” The resulting 500 photographs will be displayed in eighty storefronts and buildings lining the street and depict the kaleidoscope of colliding cultures that represent our evolving urban landscape. Wing, who has been documenting Minnesota communities for 30 years, met KFAI’s Susan Gray at his studio to share his hopes for the University Avenue project.
