Tune in to Write On Radio this Thursday, April 26th when Host Jen Nemo speaks with local poet Eireann Lorsung, about her debut book of poems, Music for Landing Planes By, published by Milkweed Editions in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
"Eireann Lorsung's debut volume, Music for Landing Planes By, is a young woman's love song to the planet." - Leslie Adrienne Miller
Lorsung received her MFA in writing and her double Bachelor degrees in English and Japanese from the University of Minnesota. She studied print-making and drawing at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy, and she has taught highschool in rural France. Her website is www.ohbara.com.
Also on the show is spoken word poet Jaylee Alde, who talks to Host Matthew Rucker about his upcoming feature appearance on May 7th at the Saint Paul Artists Quarter for the Poetry Slam, hosted by Write On Radio's own, Matthew Rucker. Alde is a member of the Pinoy Spoken Word collective Proletariat Bronze based in Oakland, CA. His confessional style, a tangle of intricate writing and intense delivery, placed him 2nd in the nation at the 2004 National Poetry Slam. When he's not writing, he's thinking about it. Jaylee hopes to one day pay rent with poetry but in the meantime he’s happy waiting tables and raising a half empty bottle in toast for the working class.
