The Employee Free Choice Act, which was introduced to both US House and Senate in 2007 states that a union is the exclusive representative of employees if it is elected by either a majority signature drive the card check process, or by secret ballot NLRB [National Labor Relations Board] election. The Act has passed in the House, but not in the Senate. Many union members and supporters argue that it would help rebuild America's middle class if regarded by more companies. The Act has been a major topic of discussion within the race between Republican Senator Norm Coleman and challenger DFLer Al Franken.
