Judy Chicago, feminist, artist, educator, author, queer ally

Judy will speak about her career and experiences concerning gender, art & politics.
A trailblazer in the Feminist Art movement, Judy Chicago has been a leader and model for an art that seeks to effect social change.

Judy began her career in 1965 and is well known for the convention shattering nature of her work in such monumental, collaborative projects as The Dinner Party, now permanently in the
Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum, Birth Project, Holocaust Project and Resolutions: A Stitch in Time.

Judy will be in Minneapolis at MCAD April 23 giving a lecture entitled
“Feminist Art in the 21st Century: Content, Context and Continuity” and her
Exhibition “Dinner with Judy Chicago” opens April 24 at
Flanders Contemporary Art Gallery in Minneapolis

Charles Nolte, gay actor, educator, director, playwright

The original Billy Budd on Broadway in 1951, Charles will talk about his career in theater & film
and being gay then and now. Charles made his Broadway debut in 1947, is a founder of the Playwrights’ Center, has worked with such greats as Tennesee Williams, Henry Fonda, Katherine Cornell, Charles Laughton, Charlton Heston, Martha Scott and is professor Emertis at the University of Minnesota.

Now 84 he currently plays a gay character in Cricket Productions World Premiere of
Exit Strategy, a new play co-written by Bill Semans and Roy M. Close about old people at Mixed Blood Theater in Minneapolis.

Roy Close, playwright will join Charles in discussing the creation of Exit Strategy.
