  • Mackenzie Jensen was on his way to work on a Friday afternoon last August when he fell victim to a random act of violence.  

    A passenger in a white Bronco threw a chunk of cinder block at Jensen, hitting him in the face and causing multiple fractures. Recently, a group of family and friends joined in a ride of support through south Minneapolis.

  • Thanks listeners for your generous donations and enthusiastic support of Fresh Air Radio during our membership drive! Friday morning from 10 AM to noon on the Fubar Omniverse, come celebrate the end of the drive as we listen to a mix of music as diverse as KFAI itself by Ester Rada and band, recorded live at Global Roots Festival 2015. Born in Israel to Ethiopian parents, Ester sings in English, Amharic, and Hebrew as her band lays down a powerful mix of jazz, funk, soul, and R&B. 

  • What does it mean to re-inhabit the Mississippi Watershed? A church in Northeast Minneapolis will be wrestling with this question October 9th and 10th when it hosts a conference featuring Christian bible scholars and environmental activists. Jin Kim is a pastor at the Church of All Nations, and Ched Myers is a writer and theologian who will speak at the conference.

  • On Sunday, October 11th, three of KFAI’s finest will be honored at Wilebski’s Blues Saloon as Jacquie Maddix, Harold Tremblay and Joel Johnson are inducted into the Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame.

    The celebration takes place at 1pm on Sunday, October 11, at Wilebski’s (1638 Rice Street, St. Paul)

  • Wednesday, September 30, Indeed Brewing Company will host another edition of "Indeed We Can," a series of charitable drinking events benefiting local organizations, as selected by brewery employees.  Proceeds from this week's event will go to the Bicycle Alliance of MN.  Dorian Grilley, Executive Director of The Bicycle Alliance of MN spoke with KFAI's Ryan Dawes on the Tuesday Morning Blend about bike-friendly infrastructure and laws, winter biking survival gear, and bicyle safety.
