  • This coming Friday night / Saturday morning, True Brit! will be exploring the Pub Rock scene from the 70’s and then moving forward to talk to Simon Toulson-Clarke, the leading light with the band Red Box!

  • Be sure and tune in Monday May 9th from 3:00 to 4:00 when Mr. Ted Unseth joins Rockin’ in Rhythm host David Cummings in the studio. Ted wears many hats, he’s a talented songwriter, musician, composer and arranger. Ted is also the founder of the original Wolverines Classic Jazz Orchestra and the current leader of his new band The American Classic Jazz Orchestra.

  • Mother Banjo (aka Ellen Stanley, host of Womenfolk Tuesdays 2-4pm)is celebrating an EP release Saturday May 7th at The Aster Cafe for her new CD Stray Songs. She will be debuting some of her new songs live on MN Soundtrack this Friday 7:30-9:00. Jonathan Kennedy will be joined by guest DJ Sabrina Crews for the whole show as well. This will be a real cool time.

  • The cuatro de mayo episode of Radio Pocho features local hip hop duo Big Quarters or as we like to call them Coras Grandes.

  • Tennessee-based Telisha & Doug Williams:http://www.dandtw.com/ will be swinging through town and stopping by Womenfolk to play live on Tuesday, May 3rd. The duo made a big splash last summer when they played KFAI’s stage at Taste of Minnesota, and now they’ll return to talk about their Americana-charting album Ghost of the Knoxville Girl and play some new songs.

  • On the 4/27 episode of Radio Pocho we welcome Sota-Rican emcee Maria Isa to the KFAI studio! Born and raised in the Twin Cities, Maria Isa, is a veteran of the hip hop scene fusing traditional Puerto Rican rhythms of Plena and Bomba with hip hop and R&B.

    In 2009 she released Street Politics to a sold out crowd at First Avenue.

  • This Friday night / Saturday morning at midnight, True Brit! does soul as we talk to Julie Dexter, the world renowned, award winning, British vocalist considered by many to be one of the most influential female vocalists of our generation.

  • Everything’s coming up roses this Tuesday on Womenfolk as we celebrate the recent Earth Day holiday with springtime songs about flowers blooming, birds returning and all kinds of good, green things. You’ll hear favorites from Nanci Griffith, Gillian Welch and Emmylou Harris as well as hot new releases from Eliza Gilkyson, The Wailin’ Jennys and this month’s Womenfolk Find Abbie Gardner.

  • According to City Pages, to watch Haley Bonar perform is haunting and humbling; rarely is it so keenly obvious that an artist is doing precisely what they were born to do. Sleepy but never sedate, Bonar’s set was as simple and as perfect as a pocketwatch, and as intimate as a lullaby Haley will entertain us with a few solo acoustic numbers in Studio 4.
