Jim Walsh's Mixtape Memoir

Jim Walsh started writing about the Twin Cities music scene some 30 years ago. He fell into his profession as a music journalist, compelled by an insatiable desire to take the electrical and  emotional impulses of music and translate them to the page. He's recently released a collection of stories he's written through the years called Bar Yarns and Manic-Depressive Mixtapes: Jim Walsh on Music from Minneapolis to the Outer Limits. He stopped by the Monday Morning Blend to talk with Xan Holston about how the book functions like a mixtape memoir for Minneapolis.

Walsh will read sections from his book at Magers and Quinn Booksellers Wednesday, November 16, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and at the Driftwood Char Bar Thursday, November 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
