Cultural Shift Spurs Employment Funding

Earlier this spring the Minnesota legislature approved $35 million in funding for programs to improve economic opportunities for people of color, women, and youth in Minnesota. Governor Mark Dayton signed this legislation into law in June.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has been holding information sessions about how the money will be filtered into competitive grant programs.  Recently appointed DEED Commisioner Shawntera Hardy spoke with Brenda Bell Brown on the Monday Morning Blend about her new role, and the cultural shift that spurred the funding.
