Female Entrepreneurs of Color

According to the Survey of Business Owners (2002), between 1997 and 2002, nationally, while all female owned firms in the country grew by 20 percent, Hispanic female owned firms increased by 60 percent, Black female owned firms increased by 75 percent, Native American female owned firms increased by 46 percent, Asian firms increased by 40 percent, and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander female owned firms increased by 85 percent. In its comparison of entrepreneurship between minorities and whites, the study found greater gender parity in minority business-ownership.
