Music

Today was a VERY secial show. I was joined by Sweet Foot, Marni Hockenberg, a blues fan who won Rollin Tumblin in a fundraising raffle. She got the chance to come on the air with me and guest host for the entire two hours. She brought in her own music, which was funky, fine and fabulous. Sweet Foot and I talked about the music, the musicians and the the blues clubs. All the while we danced around the studio and generally acted like the Wild Blues Women we were! The first part of the playlist below reflects Sweet Foot’s contribution to today’s show.

Swiss scientist Albert Hofmann was the first person to synthesize, ingest and learn the psychedelic effects of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). On April 19, 1943, he performed a self-experiment to determine the drug’s true affects. Less than an hour later he experienced sudden and intense changes in perception, and asked his lab assistant to escort him home by bicycle. Hofmann died in 2008 at the age of 102.
