Tonight’s show was a dubwise worldwide trip — with the excellent Six Degrees Records as the featured label. The Six Degrees segments of the journey took us to India, Brazil, Iran, Spain, Algeria, and the U.K. The rest of the show took us to Sweden, France, Jamaica, and the good old U.S. of A.
Today we had a special show on Uyghers of China. The Uygers are a Turkic people living in the far western part of China. My guest was Chuen-Fung Wong, a professor of musicology at Macalester College, who did his doctoral dissertation on the music of Uygers.
