Tonight Dr. StrangeDub and DJ Baby Swiss set up shop at the Dub Club Tiki Bar for the annual Echo Beach dog days of summer special. It was a very different kind of Echo Chamber, as we played some rock ‘n roll (twangy, instrumental surf), old school soul and RB, jazz, lounge, sultry Latin beats, and pseudo-soundtrack stuff. Oh yeah…and a bit of dub too.
Mother Banjo:http://www.myspace.com/motherbanjo and Art Vandalay:http://www.myspace.com/artvandalaytunes joined us this morning from 8-8:30, to celebrate her new CD and hear some live tunes. We had a good time. We also heard new music this morning from Caribou, Zap Mama, and I am in love with the teaser ep from Iron and Wine, Boy with a Coin. Maybe you already knew that.
In today’s first hour we listen the music of SWAP recorded live at the Nordic Roots Festival 2006. SWAP a group of two Swedes and two Brits make fine undefinable music. Thanks to the Cedar Cultural Center, Northside Records, and Chris Dronen, recording engineer for making this all possible.
In the second hour we had live music in the studio with Trio Tippo, Don and Steve on guitars, and Terry on percussion.
