Another typical Echo Chamber mix of roots, dub, and eclectic fun. Brand new dub from Volfoniq; Eating Betty’s excellent new Every Spoil a Dub; the latest roots classic Jah Is Real from Burning Spear; the fine new Nostradamus album from Winston McAnuff; a new Lucky Dube restrospective (on Ryko); and the cool
roots vibe of See-I’s Mean Joe Green.
Today we began with music of the Romanian Gypsies of Valachie (Ocora). That was followed by in studio guest, Donal Maguire. We heard a couple of Irish songs live, and a couple from Donal’s recording dedicated to Michael Davitt (Rossendale Records).
During the second hour we heard a poetic song from Viet Nam by Tran Van Khe (Ocora), that was followed instrumental music from Malaysia (Music Valley), and then music from Mali’s master of the Kora, Toumani Diabate (Hannibal). The show was finished of with special in studio guest, cellist, Kirsten Whitson. Where heard a two live tracks. One from Cambodian composer, Ung, and then Appalachian Waltz by Mark O’Connor.
