With all the talk about the falling satellite with 100 gallons of highly toxic hydrazine having to be blown up with a Navy anti-missile missile, we got to thinking: Early ’60s drag racers used hydrazine rocket fuel to break records for a couple years — until the cost (and incredible danger) of exploding engines became too much. We did a set devoted to those pioneers of the asphalt aisle… and played a lot of other stuff too. Check out the show, and the playlist!
We heard new music this morning from local sax man Irv Williams (celebrating his new album at the Artists’ Quarter this Friday and Saturday, March 1-2, 9pm each night). Also something new from my beloved funkstress Martha Redbone, and Chico Mann finally made their music available to people outside of Brooklyn! So we heard that, too. And new music from Jim White. Fun morning!
