Welcome to November. We celebrate the birthdays of Andre Williams – RB’s most politically incorrect artist – and Don Robey, the man who claimed song writing credit on hundreds of songs (without writing any of them) while building the Duke-Peacock empire.
I’m back from my fall leaf tour vacation to the Adirondack Mountains of New York and the Green Mountains of Vermont. Whew, awesome colors.
Thanks to Dick Himes and Larry Englund for sitting in for me while I was gone. I’ll get their playlists posted soon. Well done, boys!!
This coming Monday, November 5, Doug Spartz will be my special guest.
This week we say goodbye to October by saying hello to the new, outstanding, essential 2-CD set of Aretha Franklin that comprises previously unheard studio masters from her great years at Atlantic. We also sample the new CD issued as part of the annual Oxford American southern music issue. And Brother Tad gets spooky with some ghoulish Halloween music.
