This morning we were joined by Nathan from our local music show, MN Soundtrack,:http://www.kfai.org/node/3302 as he generously presented us with highlights from the 2007 Winnipeg Folk festival. He barely had time to sneak in a nap between driving down from Canada, but he treated us to Australia’s Cat Empire, something electronic and groovy from Canada—The No Luck Club, and the brand new record from That 1 Guy, The Moon is Disgusting. What a treat for those of us who couldn’t make it, and fun to hear what Nathan likes that’s outside of Minnesota!

In the first hour we listened to the great Finnish keyboard man, Timo Alakotila and friends, record live at the 2006 Nordic Roots Festival at the Cedar Cultural Center. Many thanks to the Cedar, Northside Records and recording engineer Chris Dronen.

In the second hour we had in studio guest, Tom Klein. Tom played some live tunes on the Irish Uileann pipes. We also listened to a few tracks of Italian Pipes (Materiali Sonon), Welsh Pipes (Fflach), and French Musette (Auvidis Valois).
