Once again we camped out at the Dub Club Tiki Bar for the annual “Echo Beach” dog days of summer special. This is a bit different kind of Echo Chamber — as we actually played some rock ‘n roll: that twangy, instrumental surf rock (from the likes of the Ventures and the Del-Tones). Then, once the martinis were well shaken, we got into some soul and funky R&B. Things were really cookin’ and the Tiki Bar was heavy with kali smoke. So we cooled things down with a variety of lounge, world, and swanky jazz…and a bit of electro dub.
Flutist Patrick Dillery, formerly of St. Paul and now New York City, is our special guest tonight. Patrick discusses the importance of France in the development of the instrument and he plays works by French composers. Patrick is a dedicated artist who plays and teaches throughout the world.
The 9:00-10:00 segment features new and old French artists from many countries singing and playing on the theme In the Torpor of Summer.
