1pm: Finding Solid Ground
Finding Solid Ground is a one-hour documentary that examines residents’ sense of security in New Orleans and the Louisiana Gulf Coast, after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. From public housing to Uptown mansions, city music clubs to rural fishing docks, this special covers a range of perspectives. As Louisianans continue to piece and patch together solutions to social, environmental, and economic crises, Finding Solid Ground is an audio snapshot that aims to answer the question: What’s it like down there now?

We heard new music this morning from local sax man Irv Williams (celebrating his new album at the Artists’ Quarter this Friday and Saturday, March 1-2, 9pm each night). Also something new from my beloved funkstress Martha Redbone, and Chico Mann finally made their music available to people outside of Brooklyn! So we heard that, too. And new music from Jim White. Fun morning!
