Eclectic

The Pop Shop’s Liberty Finch fills in for Cyn this week. With new music by Katy Vernon, Soul Asylum, Grande Machine and Crankshaft; boogaloo and funk from Secret Stash Records plus roots, pop and psychedelic.

The Lost Planeteers – Ziplow Productions brought us Daniel Cline’s stories in the Sci-Fi Trilogy, and this is the tale of a spaceship which is supposed to be delivering colonists to a suitable planet. Things don’t go as planned, starting with finding the fuel tank half-full of Moon Pies.

Time Zone – Although it says these are made by Act One Audio, they are really created by Jim French Productions. It’s part of a selection of science fiction stories. And, of course, time travel is the main theme.

Tristesse Emotional Conduit Mix

On this week’s show Manuel and his Strings take a Latin Holiday, Tito Puente and his band do the Dance of the Headhunters, a guy named Richard Shores gets really, really Hysterical on a record called EMOTIONS, Daniele Patucchi has Sex with a Witch, and Jack Burger teaches you how to play the Bongos from a LP on a record label that even I have never heard of before.

Kicking things off tonight with the excellent new “Rise Up and Love” album from Doktor Lond & Agarfa (Roots Lab Int’l/Springline). This was followed by the new dub-heavy “In the Chamber of Dub” album from General Levy & Joe Ariwa (son of Mad Professor). On top of this we had new tunes from The Dynamics, Tony Dubshot, Dub Colossus, Dr. Echo, Madness, Jah Marnyah, and Full Dub. Then, in the middle of the program, we aired part 1 of Dr. StrangeDub’s “In the garden of Dub” mix. This dubwise mix celebrates the pleasures of gardening, the roots of life, and the seasons of nature.
