A very special show tonight…dedicated to the great DJ Cheb i Sabbah who passed away on November 6 after a long hard fight against cancer. In addition to featuring DJ Cheb, the show also included a special half-hour set of tunes from Thomas Blondet’s Rhythm & Culture label. Fitting right in was the new “The Eastern Rising” compilation on Svaha Sound, as well as the excellent new “Elephant Bass – Vol.1” compilation from Elephant Bass Labs, and the new “Poulp Up Brazil” compilation from Fresh Poulp. On top of this we had some great new tracks from HIRIE, Joe Ariwa ft. Lee “Scratch” Perry (on Steppas Records), Jennifer Paulos & Mystic Selectah, Piper St Sound & Dialect Trio, Adam Prescott & Charlie P, and Marina P. Rounding out the program with tunes from The Scientist meets Ted Sirota’s Heavyweight Dub, Scratchylus (ft. Kiddus I), Mad Professor, Lloyd Brown, Masia One, Mayd Hubb meets Joe Pilgrim, Dub Club (Tom Chasteen & Tippa Lee), Ian Bederman Project, Pale Rider, Ill-esha, The Selecter, Little Dragon, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Orquestra Brasileira de Música Jamaicana (OBMJ), MC Zulu, and more…
